How it works
The NZ Hill Climb Series is a weekly Strava-based cycling challenge running across multiple cities from 3 November to 7 December. Each stage (Strava segment) is open for racing Monday–Sunday, with your best time submitted through your Login (available starting 3 November). Unlimited attempts are allowed — simply overwrite previous times when needed.

Track real-time changes on your City and Stage pages as the Leaderboards update automatically. During Week 5, riders may redo one previous stage or attempt a stage they missed. Only your top 4 stages count toward overall points.

Scoring:
Two points systems run simultaneously:
-
Standy Points: Our classic system rewards fast times, not placings. Fastest male/female = 100 points, average = 50 points, slowest = 1 point.
-
Handy Points: Introduced in 2025, this system adjusts Standy points based on age and weight to level the playing field, rewarding exceptional performance relative to your characteristics.
Points are calculated automatically in real-time and update as other riders submit times. Men’s and women’s points are calculated separately.
